Two days in Hong Kong

The January/February issue of the French magazine Elle à Table has a huge article dedicated to Hong kong where I read an interesting comparison between Shanghai and Hong Kong: "Si Shanghai s'est aux yeux du monde imposée comme la vitrine de la Chine, Hong Kong est depuis le reste that longtemps celle du monde adresse aux Chinois".

Hong Kong, just as Macau, is a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China, and as such enjoys a different political system, with more autonomy. It is also a major financial hub in the world and one of the most densely populated cities.

Once we arrived, m. and I soon began to see the differences between the two cities, starting with the people. While in Shanghai people were  more contained, reserved and well behaved, people in Hong Kong seemed more "rebellious" and outgoing.

We started our trip with a visit to the Night Market on Temple Street.

No dia seguinte, tomámos um brunch no The Brunch Club, visitámos o Man Mo Temple e subimos no eléctrico até ao Victoria Peak.

On the next day, we had brunch at The Brunch Club, we visited Man Mo Temple and took the tram to Victoria Peak.

On the last day we went to Stanley, on the opposite side of the city, still in Hong Kong Island, and ended our trip with a cup of freshly brewed milk tea with scones and cakes at Teakha.

  4. I am glad you enjoy your trip to HK, it is so short, I hope you can stay for longer another time. It is good you go to the Temple Street Night Market as you love food, I think it is one of the best place to find the real HK food, not the artificial things. The night market is so special, there used to be other in HK but now this is the only one that is left and still have the real style of Hong Kong. I am writing website guide so that more people can come to our market and understand and enjoy old style HK is still here! I hope you can link to my guide so more people can find it! Thanks.
